It was a bit curious when it was revealed that David Hayter, who provided the English voice for "Metal Gear Solid's" Snake in about a dozen games, wouldn't be returning to lend his pipes in the next game, "Metal Gear Solid 5."
In an interview with GameTrailers' Geoff Keighley, series creator Hideo Kojima revealed just what the deal was, saying that a new voice actor was recruited, but he "can't say who yet. What we're trying to accomplish is to recreate the 'Metal Gear' series. It's a new type of 'Metal Gear' game, and we want to have this reflected in the voice actor as well."
Fair enough, but this isn't the case with the Japanese voice actor. Ahkio Otsuka, who has provided the Japanese voice for Snake for as long as Hayter has, is listed as being involved in one half of "Metal Gear Solid 5," "Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes."
Ditch one actor, but keep the other, all for the sake of recreation? Something's off here...
