'Candy Crush Saga' Named Best Social Game At The International Mobile Gaming Awards

The 9th International Mobile Gaming Awards (don't worry, I never heard of them before either) named "Candy Crush Saga" its "Best Social Game."

Even if you haven't played developer King's game you've probably seen it as a suggested app, or maybe seen a friend's score on your Facebook feed.

On the surface, "Candy Crush" is nothing special. There's dozens of games out there that use the same match three gameplay, but its availability on Facebook, tablets, and smartphones makes it significantly more accessible. It's also a cutesy game which helps its appeal, and there's no pressure to rush through each move. Objectives help break up the monotony a bit, as does trying to beat your buddies high scores.

In all, the game boasts over over 108 million players and 12 billion gameplays per month across all versions, online, smartphone, etc.

"The team has put a lot of effort into the production of Candy Crush Saga and it's this type of growth and recognition that shows us our hard work has paid off," says Tommy Palm, Games Guru at King, in a release.
