'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' Release Date, News & Update: First Look Shows Off Stunning Dynamic Weather!

The upcoming Nintendo Switch just got and gave a lot of buzz to one of its flagship titles, the new "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild." The game is also coming out on the Wii U, so fans don't have to wait until the Switch comes out next year to get the first look.

Nintendo has released a few videos of "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" via GameSpot and boy, it is pretty! The game's graphics look absolutely gorgeous on the Wii U, depicting Hyrule as a picturesque landscape straight out of a painting. It seems as though Link is free to explore the entire environment, so long as he can reach it on foot.

The combat system in "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" is a straight-up platformer that's true to its core. While the gameplay videos don't show any HUDs in the interface, it's likely that fighting in the game won't be very complex. Players will have to rely on their skill and hand-to-eye coordination and how they interact with the environment to defeat enemies, according to RPGFan.

One last thing Nintendo wants to really showcase in "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" is its dynamic, beautiful new weather engine. The weather in this version of Hyrule is constantly changing, as it does in the real world. One moment it can be sunny with a light breeze, the next, a thunderstorm can set in. It's not confirmed yet as to whether these weather conditions can drastically affect gameplay, but since they've taken so much time into putting these in, it should be expected. Since fire is an element essential to the combat gameplay, it might be a factor -- for example, it might be harder to start them in the rain.

"The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" is coming out for both Nintendo consoles, the Wii U and the Switch, in 2017. Stay tuned to GamenGuide for more updates!
