The much anticipated Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 line is yet to be officially announced. However, with all the fans anxiously clamoring for the new smartphone range, there is still no kosher word on when it will be released.
October Event Release?
With the tech company slated to hold an event on October 26 to showcase their latest hardware products, the tech giant is expected to release the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 in just a few days. If this rumor turns out to be true, the new smartphone will be sharing the spotlight with the Surface Pro 5 and the Surface Book 2.
All these devices have been long overdue for a refresh. The two Surface hybrid devices will be replacing the year-old versions of their lineup. The Microsoft Surface Phone 2016, however, will be entirely replacing the Lumia lineup, with the latest model having been released earlier this year. Many fans believe that the Surface Phone will indeed be released on October 26.
2017 or Later Release
In a report on ZDnet, Mary Jo Foley has written that her sources have repeatedly told her that there would absolutely be no phones released by Microsoft this year. This would hold true if the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 even ends up being actually released. If it does, then it would most likely see the light of day by late 2017 or even in late 2018.
The actual reason behind the delay still remains unconfirmed, but many reports have attributed it to the premium specs, software and hardware that the tech giant aims to integrate into the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016. With the Windows 10 Redstone 2 update, Intel Kaby Lake processors, and a perfected Continuum down the pipeline, it is no surprised that the tech giant wants nothing but flawlessness in the upcoming smartphones. This, of course, would take so much time.
With a new release date slated for late 2017 or early 2018, will the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 come in a little too late in the smartphone arena? Stay tuned to GamenGuide for more news and updates about the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016.
