One of this year's most highly anticipated trailers was the one for "Justice League," which arrives in theaters next year. The film brought back Batman and Wonder Woman and introduced the likes of Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg before their standalone film debut. Speaking of standalone films, "Aquaman" director James Wan recently opened up about why he chose to direct the film.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Wan shared that the reason why he chose to direct the film is because the superhero is an "underdog." Wan, who has directed "The Conjuring" and "Insidious" films, as well "Fast 7," admitted that he was given the choice to direct either the "Aquaman" or "The Flash" standalone films. He chose the former because he was inspired to create the world of Aquaman.
Wan said that the reason why he chose to direct the film is because he wanted to do "a world creation story and visually create this amazing, incredible, magical kingdom." He promised that the film, which arrives in 2018, will have certain elements of "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Romancing the Stone," and "Indiana Jones." He believes the film will deliver some great action sequences.
Gamespot reports that Arthur Curry A.K.A. Aquaman will debut in next year's "Justice League," as Batman tries to recruit him and the rest of the gang to help save the world. Wan said that Aquaman's appearance in "Justice League" will definitely be a teaser and sneak peek into what the "Aquaman" standalone film will feel like.
"Aquaman" stars Jason Momoa as the titular character, as well as Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe. To find out what Aquaman has in store for audiences, get a glimpse of him in the "Justice League trailer below. "Aquaman" arrives in theaters on July 27, 2018. Tune in on GamenGuide for more updates!
