For the last state dinner of President Barack Obama, the First Lady came in a stunning rose-gold dress that captured the attention of many. Her choice of attire also spoke a lot about who she represented as the wife of the head of state.
Michelle Obama looked ravishing with her shimmering dress as she walked hand in hand with the President during the gathering at the White House on Tuesday. Italian designer Donatella Versace expressed in a statement how it was working with the First Lady.
Versace thanks Michelle
"Thank you Michelle for all of the things you have done for America and the rest of the world, for the women in the United States and the rest of the world," the designer added in a statement. The choice of dress seemed logical as the state dinner of Obama honored Matteo Renzi, the prime minister of Italy.
Aside from this, the design of her outfit also reflected that she is a strong woman who stands by what she believes in. Its as if the stories of both Versace and Michelle were mirrored on the dress. The Italian designer had to continue the business of her brother after the latter was killed in Miami.
Women empowerment
Versace has also spoken greatly about liberating women and fighting for their rights. She launched a collection of wardrobe which she said represented freedom of expression for women. As for Michelle, it was not a surprise to the public seeing her in a captivating dress. She has done so in previous appearances and gatherings with the President and has been known for her strong fashion sense.
Michelle Obama's net worth
How she presents herself to the public reflects the kind of woman she has grown to become. It was reported that the First Lady's net worth has reached $11.8 million, mostly from her legal practice. She is a lawyer by profession. Before becoming the First Lady of the United States, Michelle worked for the University of Chicago Hospitals. In 2012, the worth of assets of the couple combined has reached $6.8 million.
