Good news for the fans and collectors of games for the original Xbox. There has been latest confirmation that the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility program may transcend back to the original console.
Xbox One Backward Compatibility
When the Xbox One was released, it turned the tides for Microsoft. It quickly rose to become one of the hottest gaming consoles in the market. Its high end specs coupled with the premium game titles put the flagship gaming console on a pedestal. However, there was one caveat. The Xbox One did not natively support games released for previous console generations.
This changed upon the introduction of the Xbox One Backward Compatibility program back in 2015. With this new feature, games from the Xbox 360 have been incrementally made playable in the Xbox One. Since its introduction, there have now been more than 250 games in the ever growing library of backward compatible games.
Original Xbox Backward Compatibility Coming Soon?
Fans have been grateful for the new Xbox One Backward Compatibility, and have been fully utilizing the feature to save money on buying new games. However, there are those who want to take the game a step further. Some fans have petitioned for games in the original Xbox to be added on the roster.
One of the fans took the predicament to Twitter, where he raised the issue to no other than Xbox head Phil Spencer. The director then replied, which would definitely delight many fans.
For now, there have been tons of games to play for the Xbox One, and many more are yet to come. With the addition of the Xbox One Backward Compatibility feature, the game arsenal just grows by the day. Apparently, Microsoft is looking into further expanding the options for their customers. This investment will eventually pay off, as users only get hooked to the console with every game release.
