The latest flagship phones of Google, the Pixel and Pixel XL handsets will reportedly be getting 6 exclusive Android 7.1 Nougat features. If true, the two Pixel phones may feature the Pixel Launcher with the circular app icons and all-new homescreen shortcuts. Additionally, videos and photos taken on Google Pixel phones will be stored on Google Photos with no limits, according to report.

The Android 7.1 Nougat will feature the new Google Assistant that can understand even humorous jabs and followups. Additionally, this feature makes sense of items seen on-screen for easier organization and sorting of tasks, schedules and third-party apps. Rumor has it that Google Assistant will be exclusive to the Google Pixel handset.

Smart Burst will also reportedly be supported by the Android 7.1 Nougat. The feature is said to use artificial intelligence to choose the best photo in a series of shots along with a default HDR+ with zero shutter lag for quick fire shots. In addition, the Pixel phones will also support Daydream Virtual Reality for an immersive 3D experience of sports events, movies and concerts. The phones will also work with the Daydream View VR headset for an elevated gaming experience.

Meanwhile, Android 7.1 Nougat will reportedly be rolling out on the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X via the Android Beta Program. However, older Nougat phones will not be getting the latest OS update as much as the newer ones. Additionally, Google called the update incremental since it does not carry any massive changes, Droid-Life reported.

Android 7.1 Nougat will add new functionality called App Shortcuts. The feature will allow users to long-press on a certain shortcut that will reveal more shortcuts such as Chrome will reveal shortcuts for new tabs or incognito mode. This feature is currently being supported by Google alone and is expected to be supported by more developers in the long haul for more apps to be included.
