‘Candy Crush Saga’ TV Show News & Update: Fans Can Watch & Play The CBS Game Show At Home Soon

The hit mobile game "Candy Crush Saga" is about to be adapted into television, after CBS provided a series order from Lionsgate TV. The series will last one hour, showcasing two-player teams that will play on massive interactive game boards.

Variety wrote that aside from watching "Candy Crush Saga" matches on TV, viewers at home can play as well. The show will reportedly include a play-along option to make the "Candy Crush Saga" show more interactive and fun.

Reality TV veteran Matt Kunitz came up with the TV format and will also serve as executive producer. The other "Candy Crush Saga" TV executive producers are Peter Levin, head of interactive and games at Lionsgate, Russell Binder of Striker Entertainment, Nicki Sheard of "Candy Crush" distributor King, and creator Sebastian Knutsson.

CBS Television Studios, Lionsgate, King and Pulse Creative will collaborate to feature the "Candy Crush Saga" TV adaptation. Glenn Geller, CBS Entertainment president, said that they are huge fans of "Candy Crush" and understand the thrill of advancing to the next level of the game.

He continued that CBS is excited to work with Lionsgate and King to adapt one of the most popular and entertaining game franchises for television and make it available to its giant fan base who can watch and also play at home. "Candy Crush Saga" and "Candy Crush Soda Saga" are among the most successful mobile games in history, generating about 18 billion game rounds in September 2016.

Kevin Beggs, head of Lionsgate TV, commended Levin for introducing the "Candy Crush" IP to the studio and showing its potential for TV. Beggs explained that they immediately knew how "Candy Crush Saga" can become an incredibly visual, physical and fun TV program and are very pleased to have Kunitz managing the production. Kunitz previously executive produced "Fear Factor" on NBC and "Wipeout" on ABC.

ScreenRant stated that "Candy Crush Saga" has potential to become a hit, considering the popularity of the game and the show's engaging approach in having fans watch and play at home. CBS has yet to announce the official launch date of "Candy Crush Saga" on TV.
