One of the biggest mysteries in the world of "Game of Thrones" was finally solved when last season's Tower of Joy scene confirmed that Jon Snow is the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. However, fans have yet to find out what happened to Gendry after Davos sent him on a boat away from Melisandre and Stannis Baratheon.
Is it possible that Robert Baratheon's last living heir will finally return in "Game of Thrones" Season 7? And will his storyline overlap with that of Young Griff aka Aegon Targaryen's so he will be the one looking for an alliance with Daenerys Targaryen?
Will Gendry Return As A More Powerful Character In 'Game Of Thrones' Season 7?
Everyone has been waiting for Gendry to come back in the sixth season, especially when most of the lost characters (Benjen Stark, The Brotherhood Without Banners, The Hound, etc) returned to the series. Unfortunately, "Game of Thrones" Season 6 concluded without any hints to the bastard's whereabouts.
However, things could change next year when Gendry is expected to finally show up for a major role. Will "Game of Thrones" Season 7 replace Aegon Targaryen with Gendry and send him off to forge an alliance with Daenerys Targaryen?
'Game Of Thrones' Season 7 Theory: Gendry Replaces Aegon Targaryen, Makes A Beeline For The Iron Throne?
The HBO series has already replaced some "A Song of Ice and Fire" characters and adapted their storylines to people who are already in the show. Sansa Stark took Jeyne Poole's place and ended up marrying Ramsey Bolton while The Hound's new partnership with the Brotherhood Without Banners suggests he will be the new leader instead of Lady Stoneheart.
It is possible that Gendry's storyline will absorb Aegon Targaryen's and he will be the new contender for the Iron Throne. However, it is still unclear whether Gendry will consider Daenerys Targaryen a possible ally or foe in "Game of Thrones" Season 7.
