Sony Xperia XZ, X Release Date, News & Update: Compact Fingerprint Sensor Can Be Unlocked; The Most Advanced Smartphone To Date?

Xperia XZ and X Compact have been released in the US early this week. According to reports, the new smartphones from Sony come with a peculiar change for the American model, which removes the fingerprint sensor available on the other similar variants of the smartphones in other parts of the world. While this is what the Japanese company claims, it is not apparently, altogether true.

An Xperia XZ and X Compact thread created by the fans on the forum of the XDA Developers has reportedly uncovered that the American variants of the two smartphones have still the said type of fingerprint sensor. But it was also found out that the hardware has been locked behind the firmware limitations, which is said to prevent the different functional sensor from performing. To make this sensor work, all it takes is to flash the phones with the firmware from a different region where Sony has allowed the sensor.

Xperia XZ and X Compact shipment in the US without the fingerprint sensors is reportedly not the first time. In fact, senior director of marketing for Sony Mobile, Don Mesa stated that the fingerprint sensor has been left out as the result of a business decision necessary to make in order to transition from the carrier industry to the unlocked market. This, however, brings more confusion since the phones already have the required hardware. Nevertheless, Xperia XZ and X Compact users have now an unofficial alternative that will enable the feature regardless of the reason, The Verge reported.

Meanwhile, Xperia XZ is now available in the UK, as announced by Sony. According to reports, the new flagship phone will feature the most powerful 23MP camera, a water-resistant design and a high-quality audio. It will also include a PS4 compatibility with its Sony Remote Play, a powerful Snapdragon 820 processor and a 4K video recording.

Xperia XZ is believed to be the most advanced smartphone in the market today, given all its features that are expected to make the new Sony flagship become one of the leading Android phones to date, Express reported.  Watch video about Sony Xperia XZ 20hr review here:
