2NE1 was, and still, one of the most successful Korean girl groups to date. But youngest member, Minzy, shocked everyone back in April when she announced that she was leaving the popular girl group. Her departure left the remaining 2NE1 members, CL, Bom, and Dara with no choice but to focus on their individual careers in the meantime while YG Entertainment is still trying to sort things out.
2NE1 disbanding after Minzy's exit?
2NE1's company, YG Entertainment, previously released a statement and revealed that the 22-year-old singer and dancer would not be continuing on with the famous K-pop girl group after declining to renew her contract with the agency. The label explained that other three 2NE1 members, CL, Bom, and Dara expressed interest in continuing the group, but Minzy felt otherwise.
Even though YG Entertainment already assured fans that 2NE1 would continue with the three remaining members, and here are no plans to add a new member to replace Minzy. Although YG Entertainment has noted that CL, Park Bom and Dara are preparing to release a new song, rumors are still swirling that 2NE1 may have finally reached the end of the line.
2NE1 disbanding: Members focusing on individual projects?
While 2NE1 is still on hiatus, a new girl group formed by YG is slowly taking the top spot. Black Pink may have only debuted last August, but fans have already seen the potential in Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa to be the next best thing. GamenGuide previously reported that YG Entertainment is setting BIGBANG, Black Pink, and brother-sister duo Akdong Musician for a triplle comeback next month.
