Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Latest News & Update: Users Will Get $100; Details On Other Options For Consumers

Samsung is now convincing users to voluntarily recall their original or replacement units of the Galaxy Note 7 that were sold or exchanged in the United States before and after September 15. After discontinuing the production of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 this week, when reports surfaced that the smartphone overheats and in some cases that it explodes.

Samsung, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in partnership with carriers and retailers has now come up with a refund and exchanger program. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 refund and exchange program let their consumers choose some options with additional incentives and refunds for the units.

One option, according to the official website, if the consumers want to exchange their Galaxy Note 7 with another Samsung smartphone the consumers can receive a $100 bill credit from select carrier of retail outlets. As a sign of their appreciation for the loyalty and patience of the users. However if the users has already exchanged their Galaxy Note 7 with a Samsung smartphone the user will receive a $75 bill credit in addition to the $25 that they previously received.

Another option is a refund for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The user will obtain the refund and will receive a $25 bill credit which will also be from selected carrier and retail outlets. Meanwhile if users wish to exchange their Galaxy Note 7 with a different brand of smartphone the users will also receive $25 bill credit.

Tim Braxton, president and CEO of Samsung electronics America said in a statement that the costumer's safety will remain a top priority and that he asks consumers to power down the Galaxy Note and take advantage of the remedies available.

Earlier this month, a Southwest Airlines flight was forced to evacuate when a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 started smoking. While a 13-year old, Minnesota teenager had a minor injury when Galaxy Note 7 melted the cover of her unit that cause a burn on her thumb. A couple in Kentucky also experience the same incidents from their replacement Note 7.

The US Department of Transportation has released a statement to ban all Samsung Galaxy Note 7 from any flight in the United States. Users attempting to avoid the ban will face criminal prosecution and additional fines.
