'Nashville' Season 5 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Maddie, Clay New Angles; Shorter Scripts, More Music This Time!

"Nashville" Season 5 has added two new characters last month. The ever-expanding new season roster includes the likely dangerous super fan of Rayna James, played by Connie Britton, while the other character is reported to have an eye on the eldest daughter of Rayna, Maddie, who is played by Lennon Stella. It appears that the fans would witness a lot of Maddie's rebellious side in the new season.

In "Nashville" Season 5, Joseph David-Jones, who reportedly appeared on the previous "Legends of Tomorrow", will be part of the show through a recurring role. According to reports, the actor will be playing the character of Clay, an African-American musician in his mid-20's, who is not only known for being outgoing and charming, but also as incredibly volatile. In fact, Clay's personality is believed to be a huge factor in terms of his musical ability, making his works become more compelling.

"Nashville" Season 5 rumors also claim that Clay's mood swings could likely be the effect of something deeper than an ordinary emotional ups and downs. Although Clay and Maddie come from a wildly different socioeconomic backgrounds, both have found a common ground in the world of music. In addition, Maddie would be going for a lot more than what she asked for, despite having been attracted to the notion of dating a bad boy, TV Guide reported.

The country-music drama show was mandated with shorter scripts to give more time for music to play out. This was revealed by Marshall Herskovitz, the new co-showrunner, further revealing that the drama focuses on the complexity and depth of relationships. A featurette is reported to provide a quick look of a few on-set, behind-the-scenes happenings that feature cast members like Charles Esten, Sam Palladio, Lennon and Maisy Stella and Connie Britton.

"Nashville" Season 5, produced by Lionsgate, is set to make a CMT debut as well as a two-hour premiere on January 5, 2017. The episodes are available via streaming on Hulu on the next day, TV Line reported. Watch video about "NASHVILLE Season 5" Behind-The-Scenes On Set New Season Coming to CMT Jan. 5
