HP Envy Release Date, News & Update: Spectre x360 Boasts Larger Battery, Massive Screen; Envy 13 Gets Kaby Lake, USB-C

HP has recently announced improvements to its premium line of laptops, including the high rated Envy 13 and Spectre x360. Both laptops, while already powerful beforehand, have larger capacities for their batteries, design updates and the Spectre x360 now has a smaller footprint and an edge-to-edge display.

On the other hand, Envy 13 is also updated with a refreshed design and now features Intel's latest and most powerful processors. The Verge reports that the all new Spectre x360 still has the rotating feature that it has been known for, so that display can rotate all the way behind the keyboard. The new edge-to-edge display makes it a full 11.8mm narrower than the previous model and now features a quad speaker array.

It is also said that the Spectre x360's battery can now power the device for as long as 15 hours in between charges, which is a 25% upgrade from its previous capacity. It also charges faster in fact, it can charge up to 90% in as fast as 90 minutes thanks to better efficiencies all throughout the battery and the entire system.

Anand Tech reports that this new laptop now has a USB Type-C port and HP has reduced the price to $849. This new model uses the exact same chassis as its predecessor and the lifted hinge design makes typing more comfortable for any user. These new models are based on the Intel Core's i-series Kaby Lake processors and look like they resemble their predecessors which featured Skylake CPUs.

As for the new Envy 13, it is not as sleek as the Spectre x360 but it is more affordable. It is made of magnesium and aluminium and can be fitted with a full-HD or even a quad-HD display which can also function as a touchscreen.

HP had revealed that the battery is 28% larger in this new model which can power the entire device for as long as 14 hours. This new model will also come with seventh-generation Core i5 and i7 processors, as much as 16GB of RAM, and a whopping 1TB of internal storage in its hard disk.
