"Avatar 2" fans were expecting that the sequel of the highest grossing movie of all time will be released this year during the holiday season. But according to some reports, the sci-fi blockbuster is still under production and will not even be released in 2018. This does not come as a surprise since the original film took five years in the making plus another two years in editing.
In an interview by Variety, James Cameron was reported to want to make four sequels for the movie with "Avatar 2" to be released in 2018. Initially, the 62 year old filmmaker only wants to make two sequels. But after he met with his team, he realized that a two-part movie cannot contain all their ideas. Each sequel can stand alone, but together they will form an unforgettable saga. Succeeding sequels are reported to be released on Christmas 2020, 2022 then on 2023.
James Cameron added that his crew wants to be fully prepared in making the Pandora universe. It is more important for the Canadian director to have a "cadence of the release pattern" than when will "Avatar 2" be shown. He said that they will move their target date if there's a need.
James Cameron's casts are still on contract according to a report by Digital Spy. That means that fans will be able to see Zoe Zaldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang in "Avatar 2." In the previous movie, Weaver and Lang's character died; so, it will be a surprise to know what kind of role the two actors will play.
The plot of James Cameron's "Avatar 2" will see Sully as a chieftain and Neyteri as a high priestess with their children as focus on their adventure. Surely, Pandora's world will be as mythical as ever with the underwater and volcanic environment to explore.
