The "DOOM" reboot has caused quite the pandemonium as of late, both for the old-timers and the new gamers alike. For those who have known the game from the start, a nostalgic move was done by the team behind it, making the game seemingly come to life slowly.
Many may have already known just what the "DOOM" game has done so far, but there are some aspects of the game that have stepped away from the screen. One is the fabrication of a gun that was made famous by the franchise, namely the BFG that many have grown to love.
According to Gizmodo Australia, "DOOM" publisher Bethesda once gave their word that a contest was to be held wherein a 3D-printed version of the BFG will be given the right recognition if proven deserving. Finally, a worthy winner was named and their rendition of the BFG become one for history to mark.
Cinema Blend reported that MyMiniFactory, a 3D printing group, was then asked to create their life-sized version of the BFG and the team did, indeed, deliver. As they were trying to figure out how big the "DOOM" weapon is via thorough searching and measurements, Bethesda took the liberty of sending statistics for the team to base it on.
The 3D model of the BFG was cut into about 70 pieces, with each piece printed out accordingly. Getting into the talk of efforts, the devastating "DOOM" gun model took more than a thousand hours and an entire month to print the pieces and 35 hours of construction. With such an iconic weapon making the dreams of many shooters come true, Bethesda's reboot is only one of the many reasons for the fans to stay locked onto the franchise.
The BFG of "DOOM" is considerably one of the most powerful guns in first-person shooter history. A "one shot, one kill" weapon on its own, the massive gun has finally leaped out of fantasy and into reality, at least for the model.
