'Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare' News & Updates: Beta Begins, What You Need To Know [VIDEO]

"Call of Duty" fans, if you've been waiting all this time for "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare," then you can rejoice now. The beta is starting today, and by the time you read this you could already be among hundreds of players trying out the new futuristic first-person shooter.

This is everything you need to know about the "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" beta phase, according to Games Radar. First, you should have preordered the game on PlayStation 4 and/or Xbox One from your store of choice. They should give you, along with your preorder, a beta code that you can use to download the game's beta client. The beta will officially begin at 10 am PST for those who preordered the game on PS4, and will run through the weekend, ending on Monday, October 17, also at 10 am PST. If you're missing out on this first "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" beta phase for whatever reason, you can still participate in the second beta session the following weekend from October 21 to 24, also from 10 am to 10 am, and this one is open now to both PS4 and Xbox One players.

There will be four modes you can play on three maps in the "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" beta. Team Deathmatch is a given, plus Kill Confirmed, a variation of Team Deathmatch in which players score points after collecting dog tags of fallen players; Domination, a control-point mode returning to "Call of Duty" as well; and a new mode called Defender, in which two teams play to gain long control of a drone that's hiding somewhere on the map. The maps available are Frontier, a circular map; Frost, a linear map; and Throwback, a bent map that looks like a town in the 1950s.

The "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" beta will also only have three loadouts for players to choose from. The highly-customizable game classes are the medium-type Warfighter, the heavy Merc, and the close-combat Synaptic. Each class, called a Combat Rig in the game, will have an ultimate ability called a "Payload," which function similarly to "Overwatch"'s ultimate abilities. Also, weapons can be unlocked by playing and spending tokens on them, as well as getting salvage inside the game.
