EA just won't let the world forget about their wildly succesful "Battlefield" franchise. It's the closest thing they've got to "Call of Duty," after all. As the final round of dlc for "Battlefield 3" makes its way to players, EA is sending out promotional materials to press in anticipation of the Game Developers Conference. The unmistakable orange and blue hues say just one thing: Battlefield says hello. GDC is in San francisco from March 25 to March 29.
While there aren't any big, inviting numbers on IGN's promotional sheet, especially a big number 4, "Battlefield's" fourth installment is an absolute inevitiability at this point. DICE promised access to the "Battlefield 4" beta to anyone who got their hands on the limited edition of "Medal of Honor: Warfighter." For many, that was the only real reason to buy the game. EA confirmed the beta would take place this fall and also used last year's GDC to announce "Medal of Honor: Warfighter" and some additional "Battlefield 3" dlc. They even used the same exact "Save the Date" line for "Medal of Honor."
We tracked down some rumors about the sort-of-confirmed game last November.
However, there is that other "Battlefield" series, "Bad Company," and reports of the franchise's continued existence popped up on Gamerzines last May, though anything can happen to a game's development in a week, much less (almost) an entire year.
Now, "Battlefield" nuts, please wait in giddy anticipation until this year's GDC.
