If reports are to be believed, OnePlus is almost ready with its next offering and it may not be named OnePlus 4. The company released its third high-end, low-price flagship phone in June and was highly praised for its specs and features. Now, the mobile manufacturer is ready to replace it with yet another.
According to Tech Radar, OnePlus is working on either an OnePlus 3S or an OnePlus 3 Plus version for replacing the main phone, various sources have revealed. However, this may not be the OnePlus 4 phone everybody is expecting eagerly.
Gizmo China has reported that the OnePlus 3 is facing a shortage in supply. The company is finding it difficult to keep up with the demand and delivery times are sometimes exceeding four to five weeks. According to Gizmo China's internal sources, OnePlus is actually thinking of stopping production of OnePlus 3. Is this also a hint that OnePlus 4 is coming soon?
Well, his could be because the company wants to pave way for a new model, possibly One Plus 3S or OnePlus 3 Plus. The company has reportedly stopped selling the gray version of OnePlus 3 and only the gold version is available.
Even though OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had earlier said that the company would focus on releasing only one smartphone in 2016, the supply shortage suggests a different story altogether. It may release the OnePlus 3S model to meet the demand.
Another reason for stopping OnePlus 3 production and releasing OnePlus 3S could be the company aiming a faster and more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset. The company also wants to make a shift from AMOLED display to LCD Display. AMOLED supply shortage could be a big reason behind the shortage in OnePlus 3 supply.
Even though the information from the trusted supply chain source cannot be verified, the info seems correct. There is no info on when the company is planning to release the new handset. The new OnePlus phone will have the same design as OnePlus 3 but will have different internal specs.
