Freebird Games sent us on a little internet-scavenger hunt on Thursday when they released an image on their website teasing a supposed direct sequel to their indie hit, ‘To the Moon.’ Big, blocky letters spelled out ‘To the Moon 2,’ with images of zombies and gunfights playing out below. Those who went through the first game know none of this has anything to do with Freebird’s style.
At the bottom of the image, you’ll find a URL which leads to the real follow-up game, ‘A Bird’s Story.’
“A Bird Story is an indie adventure short, about a simple narrative taking place between the mix of a boy’s memories, dream, and imagination,” reads the Freebird’s site. Further, the narrative involves the boy and a bird with a broken wing. It seems Freebird is taking a similar, emotional and quiet tone as they have previously. ‘A Bird Story’ takes place long before ‘To The Moon.’
You’ll find a few tantalizing images and details over there, not to mention a trailer, which we’ve provided below. Don’t watch if for too long, it doesn’t really go anywhere, a bit reminiscent of “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”
Okay, few things are that good. The music is nice though.
‘To The Moon,’ Freebird’s breakout indie hit, followed two scientists as they traveled through the memories of an old man to fulfill his dying wish. The boy in ‘A Bird Story’ eventually grows up to become a patient of the scientist’s, though they won’t show up this time around, according to the site.
Freebird is aiming for a mid-year 2013 release on PC.
