Disney's 'Infinity' Shows Off Lightening McQueen's Moves [TRAILER]

Disney's "Infinity" wants to be a more magical take on Activision’s ‘Skylanders’ series. To do that the company will have to convince children everywhere to put down their Portals of Power and pick up the Disney version.

Part of that process is showing off what the characters and enviroments will do. In the below trailer Lightening McQueen, Owen Wilson’s protagonist from the highly-successful Pixar movie series, “Cars”, zips his way through his home base and the first movie’s primary setting, Radiator Springs. There's plenty to recognize in the "Cars" play set on display. A play set is a movie or franchise level activated with physical, near-field communication (NFC) enabled toys. Players are meant to buy characters and plop them into the virtual world with a NFC plate conected to their consoles.

“The Pirates of the Caribbean”, Pixar’s “Monsters” and “The Incredibles” and, of course, “Cars,” will all be available.

The trailer shows off Toy Box Mode, where players are meant to mix and match their characters and fool around in a more open setting, similar to the "Toy Story 3" game. The mode will feature 4-player co-op.

“Disney Infinite’ is set for a Summer 2013 release with characters, unsurprisingly, being sold separately, on most every platform available these days, save the Playstation Vita. Disney is promoting cross-platform play for the game, though the company hasn’t quite released any hard details on what, exactly, that means just yet.
