Samsung devices are getting the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS update. Among them are the recently released flagship devices Samsung S series, Note series, Edge series as well as the new Pixel phones and several Motorola phones like the Moto series.
Samsung is gaining momentum in rolling out the laist OS update to its devices. Aside from the new Google Pixel and Pixel XL rolling out with the Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, a list was spotted online that confirmed the release of the update in other devices. The latest OS is made available for Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge Plus, S7, S7 edge, Note 5 and the Galaxy Note 7. Absent from the list is the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy S5 that did not make it to the cut being over two years out in the market. For such devices, the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is said to be the end of the line.
Motorola also announced as reported by Tech Times the devices that would qualify for the Android 7.0 Nougat update. Among the listed devices are the Moto Z, Moto G and Moto E3 Power while none of the Moto E series are getting the update. In the meantime, several carriers like the AT&T and the US Cellular also sell devices like Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
In other news, the commotion over Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is reportedly over. It should be noted that Samsung had sold replacement phones for a few weeks claiming that the handsets will no longer catch on fire. However, reports of fires and explosions still persisted.
Samsung finally put an end to the Galaxy Note 7 and halted its production for good. The decision came days after a Southwest Airlines Flight recently had to be evacuated due to a Note 7 overheating and filling the plane with smoke. The Note 7 reportedly wiped out an estimated $18 billion from the company's value and $17 billion in revenue.
