The release of "The Sims 5" remains uncertain, after EA continues to observe how "The Sims 4" is faring. Since "The Sims 4" launched in 2014, the game has not been getting a lot of positive feedback, compelling Electronic Arts (EA) to feature a new DLC, "City Living," which may hopefully help recover some of their losses.
"The Sims 4" producer Grant Rodiek, username SimGuruGrant, was on The Sims Forums. One user featured a list of requests and features which he thought would be great to add in "The Sims 5." Rodiek, however, immediately replied that they were not working on "The Sims 5" at the moment and are actually not thinking of the sequel. He explained that if "The Sims 4" is not successful, a sequel will not arrive.
Cinema Blend wrote that fans should not be immediately disappointed by Rodiek's statement. There is a good chance that "The Sims 4" will be good enough to compel EA to create "The Sims 5." There are not actually too many life-simulator titles available, and the franchise has created a reputation for paying attention to detail, as well as showcasing a wide array of features, content and expansions. The release of the City Living DLC will most likely help boost the main title's popularity. The game developer may decide to capitalize on "The Sims 4" first by launching more DLCs, before coming up with a sequel.
Rodiek clarified that his purpose in the forums is to encourage open discussion among "The Sims 4" players and offer support to the community. He is willing to listen to comments, feedback, bug concerns and other gameplay issues. He stated that part of his presence is also involved in boosting sales, but he mainly wishes for players to improve their feelings towards "The Sims 4."
In the meantime, "The Sims 4" is struggling with sales, but is expected to recover when the new City Living DLC and additional patches and fixes roll out. More expansion packs and add-ons in the near future will also help it perform better. More updates and details on "The Sims 5" are expected soon.
