"Mafia III" PC version appeared to have stirred the bee's nest during release day on Friday, Oct 7 as lots of expectations were not met especially on graphics quality. However, developer 2K Games was quick on damage control and patch 1.01 released just 2 days after.
What could be an action-packed 60's shooter "Mafia III" received mixed reviews from gamers. The title nearly flunked in Steam at 6/10 rating while Instant Gaming gave better rate at 4.5 points. Some review experts are even throwing harsh comments about the game and calls it boring, imperfect, cheap graphics and so on. Good that 2K Games took the matter seriously and scrubbed their team for improvement push.
Now here comes update 1.01 that unlocks 60 fps capability. Remember that bunch of complaints earlier focused on low graphics quality. Previously, "Mafia III" lags frequently, even to the point of slideshow-state at 10 fps in crowded areas and high-speed car driving. However, Game Zone reported that the games did not clocked at 60 fps after update 1.01 even with a rig at recommended specs.
Ironically, "Mafia III" official announcement assured 60 to unlimited fps with patch 1.01 and a solid 30 fps without patch. But while there were bursts of 60 fps with updated PC, gamers observed that this quality was inconsistent. Also, gamers can experience better color and excellent depth during cinematic scenes only to drop again on active gameplay. A Windows 10 gamer with R9290 OC version, core i7-4790K, 1080 3D HD monitor rig said that his experience was 33fps to a bit lower than 40 fps.
Meanwhile, there are reports that not only PC version of "Mafia III" is having graphics problems. Gamers experienced on and off graphics quality especially in open world where description used was "eyesore." Weather effects suffer the same criticisms and gamers described the quality as "lifeless." At any rate, 2K Games assured that they are constantly listening to the gaming community and will address issues accordingly.
