Blizzard plans to show "a little something" new in addition the console port of "Diablo III" at PAX East next month, based on an invitation the developer sent to Polygon.
Whatever it is, Blizzard says the new thing isn't something you'd be able to guess. "It's not a sequel, expansion, or that rumored next-gen MMO, but it's something we're excited for you to get your hands on," according to the invitation. Technically, they haven't even confirmed they're talking about a game: Blizzard representitives speaking to Polygon referred to it as a "new Blizzard project."
In fact, pretty much anything is more likely than an entirely new game from Blizzard. The publisher hasn't released a game unconnected to "Warcraft", "Starcraft", or "Diablo" franchises since the "Lost Vikings II" in 1997. They haven't created a new IP since the original "Diablo" in 1996.
Blizzard announced plans to show the PS3 version of "Diablo III" at the consumer show after announcing the port at Sony's PS4 unveiling last week.
Blizzard's PAX East panel begins on March 22 at 10:00 Eastern.
