Bridgit Mendler Joins 'Nashville' Season 5 Cast
CMT confirms that singer, songwriter and actress Bridgit Mendler will be joining the "Nashville" Season 5 cast. Her numerous television credits include roles in NBC's comedy series "Undateable" and Disney Channel's sitcom "Good Luck Charlie."
Bridgit Mendler is set to portray a recurring role as Ashley Wilkenson. Mendler's on screen persona is said share some similarities to her real life. Wilkenson is described as an extremely talented, self-assured, young and beautiful YouTube celebrity.
In real life, Bridgit Mendler is likewise successful in her musical career. She released her first album "Hello, My Name Is ..." back in 2012 while another album is in the works which will be released this year.
'Nashville' Season 5 Cast - First Photos Do Not Include Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere
On the other hand, the team is pretty busy filming "Nashville" Season 5 these days. In its official Twitter account, the show posted some first photos showing some of its cast at a table reading.
However, Deadline was quick to notice that actors Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere are not included in any of the photos. It is highly possible that the episode being filmed do not require Rayna James, the character portrayed by Connie Britton as the actress has only agreed to appear in a limited number of episodes in "Nashville" Season 5.

In the meantime, fans will now have a specific date to look forward to as CMT has already announced a definite "Nashville" season 5 release date. The musical drama will return on January 5 with a two-hour premiere special. For fans who might not be able to catch up, Hulu will be streaming the show a day after its episodes are aired on CMT.
