New 'Killzone: Shadow Fall' Trailer Gives a Peek at Game's Plot

Shortly after the game's debut last week, the PlayStation Blog put up a few words about the game's plot. Now, a new trailer is adding a bit more, allowing the audience to see things from the perspective of the orange eyed boogeymen. Check it out below.

OK, so the footage isn't exactly new, but the voiceover is.

Some big names have lent their vocal talents to past "Killzone" games, including Brian Cox as Scolar Visari, and Malcolm McDowell as Jorhan Stahl. Given the ending of the third game, it's possible that McDowell could return to voice Stahl in "Shadow Fall," but this has not yet been confirmed.

As previously stated by the PS Blog, "Shadow Fall" "is set in a near future, thirty years after the events of ""Killzone 3."" The world is a very different place; two rival factions known as the Helghast and the Vektans live side by side in a futuristic city, divided by a vast wall. Tensions are high, and the cold war they are embroiled in is about to go hot."

From the looks of the trailer, it seems like things have already reached a tipping point. The idea of the Cold War is crucial to the game's plot, and has been emphasized since the reveal. CVG reports Guerrilla Games managing director Hermen Hulst says, "The story draws parallels to Cold War Berlin, with two factions living side by side divided by a vast wall. This is a story about the loss of home, the search of new home, and the lengths to which people go to defend it."

Confirming the game as an official PS4 launch title, Herman Hulst said "Killzone: Shadow Fall" will arrive alongside the PS4 this holiday season.
