A potential “Grand Theft Auto 6” release may be far off and a lot of factors are likely to come into play before Rockstar starts major work on the famed action-adventure game.
Rockstar admits breaking the ice when it announced it was starting game development though that sounded more of an assurance that they are working on “Grand Theft Auto 6”. Other than that, major breakthroughs on what to expect remain scarce.
As mentioned in a previous post, the wait for “Grand Theft Auto 6” could extend as far as 2020. That covered mostly the technical aspects of game development and one has to wonder how much Rockstar is shelling out to make the sixth installment an equally big hit.
Pencil Pushing For “Grand Theft Auto 6”
As far as the numbers tied up to “Grand Theft Auto 6” is concerned, it is best to look back at “GTA 5”. “Grand Theft Auto 5” reportedly needed $265 million to create, a big budget which turned out to be worth the hefty investment. Proof of that is that the game generated $800 million within 24 hours of its release, Neurogadget reported.
Hence, it would not be surprising of “Grand Theft Auto 6” ends up with a bigger budget. It could reach as much as $300 million, even more. A lot depends on what the game developers have planned.
If augmented reality or virtual reality is indeed applied to the game, that alone should make game development for “Grand Theft Auto 6” pretty hefty. However, this is a rumored plan that would depend on whether AR/VR would be a hit by the time Rockstar is ready to release “GTA 6”.
Again, these are rough estimates tied up to “Grand Theft Auto 6” and could balloon. Seeing the high anticipation, Rockstar is expected to weigh in on this before actual development kicks off.
