Now that Jeremy Lin has signed a deal with the Brooklyn Nets, his former New York Knicks' teammate, Carmelo Anthony has been rumored to say things that have sparked apprehensions between the two. With the NBA 2016 season games underway, many are looking at the NBA turf wars to be unforgiving.
Although it has not been confirmed that there are rising tensions between Carmelo Anthony and Jeremy Lin, some are still insinuating that Anthony's words were not what Lin expected.
In a report from NY Daily News, Lin left the Knicks for Houston as a free agent following a whirlwind several weeks dubbed "Linsanity" near the end of the 2011-12 season. He also signed a three-year, $36 million deal with the rebuilding Nets as well.
According to the same report, when Anthony was asked regarding Lin, he responded, "He is the face of that franchise, believe it or not. He came up, they paid him and now the ball is in his hands."
"I've never had anything remotely hostile with him. So whatever he says, I don't know, you guys can ask him, but from my personal interaction with him, I've never really bumped heads or anything," Lin added.
ESPN also cited Anthony's words when he said that Lin is now the "face of the franchise." On the other hand, Lin rebuffed Anthony's statement by saying that he does not have any personal indifference towards Anthony and they never got into a fight in the past as well and even now.
As the NBA turf wars started, it is ideal that tensions would rise between former players. With Jeremy Lin and Carmelo Anthony, everything remains unsettled. Even though the upcoming NBA games could get personal, Lin is not shaken by the statements and is driven to play alongside his team, the Brooklyn Nets.
