Today's the day that "Skyrim" players can finally count their DLC collection complete. The first DLC released for the game on other platforms, "Dawnguard," finally arrives on Tuesday in North America, as soon as PSN updates (traditionally later in the afternoon). UK PS3 owners will get their turn with the DLC on February 27th.
Offering about 10 to 20 hours worth of gameplay, "Dawnguard" gives players the option of joining a vampire hunting organization, the titular Dawnguard, and taking on the vampire lord Harkon in his quest to extinguish the sun, which doesn't seem like a very nice thing to do. On the flip side, you can join Harkon and his kin, who grant you all the powers to be one with the night.
And as earlier promised, the DLC will be 50 percent off during the first week of its release, just like the others.
"Dawnguard" was the first piece of DLC to be released for the game, originally as a timed Xbox 360 exclusive waaaaaay back in June. Bethesda promised the DLC would find its way to PC and PS3 players shortly thereafter, but then ran into problems with the DLC on Sony's console. The company continued releasing DLC for the 360, keeping mum about what sort of problems they were having with Sony hardware, irritating PS3 players. Looking at the Twitter page of Bethesda's VP of Communication, Pete Hines, you can still see folks upset about it. Hence, the 50 percent off for the DLC during the first week of release.
As of today, every "Skyrim" owner will have access to every bit of DLC that's been released so far, which includes "Hearthfire" and "Dragonborn." Fair? With players for one platform having had to wait so long, and now getting a deal as a result, you'll find strangers on the internet saying that everything is now fair is arguable at best. What happened happened, and the best thing to do now is to look forward.
The latest DLC rumors for "Skyrim" concern the Redguard, and would have players visit their newfound homeland of Hammerfell. Of course, this is just a rumor at this point. We'll keep you informed if Bethesda makes any official announcement.
