Everyone who watched "Enchanted" know that the ending, though happy and festive, has the qualities of an impending sequel. Which is why, Disney has finally confirmed the production of "Enchanted" sequel. However, the title for the "Enchanted" sequel is "Disenchanted." Is is a darker version of its predecessor?
"Disenchanted" - Marital Disillusion?
"Enchanted," which was filmed almost ten years ago, was bright, funny, exciting - everything that a rom-com movie should be. However, there are reports that the plot of "Disechanted" might be the opposite of "Enchanted." According to The Guardian, "Disenchanted" will begin filming in summer of 2017.
The ending of "Enchanted" showed Princess Giselle (Amy Adams) and Robert Phillips (Patrick Dempsey) beginning their happily-ever-after story. "Disenchanted" is expected to follow through the married life of Giselle and Robert, with the latter questioning the magic and the reality of happily-ever-after.
Robert's cynicism will then trigger some arguments between him and Giselle and will cause ruckus in their marriage. The life of Prince Edward (James Marsden) and Nancy (Idina Menzel) might also be revisited, giving the audience a peek into their lives years after "Enchanted" ended.
No More Musical For "Disenchanted?"
Following the possibility of the "Enchanted" sequel focusing more on the darker side of marriage, will there still be musical scenes in "Disenchanted?" Or will it be more of dramatic lines and tear-jerking scenes? "Enchanted" captured the hearts of the viewers and managed to bag a whooping profit of $340 million worldwide.
One of the main reasons why it clicked with the audience is because of its novelty - combining the magical world with the real world. Aside from its novelty, the catchy songs performed by the lead stars also entertained the audience, both young and old. "Disenchanted" might focus more on the serious life events, with both Giselle and Robert questioning the existence of happily-ever-after.
