More updates on "Wolverine 3" have been released and fans will now have an idea what Logan (Hugh Jackman) will be up to in his final adventure. The official title and release date of the "Xmen" spin-off has also been revealed. Jackman promised earlier to share a photo of the official movie poster and this week he did just that. "Wolverine 3" will now be officially referred to as "Logan" and it's slated to release on Mar. 3, 2017.
For several months, "Logan" was rumored to be based on the comics "Old Man Logan," which features a retired Wolverine. Indeed, the "Wolverine 3" movie will somewhat follow the story arc found in the comics. "X-Men" director Bryan Singer confirmed earlier that the big bad in the upcoming movie is Mister Sinister, Cinema Blend reported. Those who have paid attention to the post-credit scenes from "X-Men: Apocalypse" can get some clues as to how "Logan's" story may begin.
It can be recalled in "Apocalypse" that Wolverine escaped from the Weapon X facility, wounding and even killing those who got in his way. Following the rampage, a group of men went into the facility; one was able to procure the DNA sample of Weapon X, also known as Wolverine. The sample was placed inside a briefcase labeled Essex Corp - a company known in the Marvel universe to be owned by Mister Sinister or Nathaniel Essex. Indeed, the final scene had given away what's possibly in store in "Logan." What could possibly happen in "Wolverine 3"?
The actor who's been tasked the role of the villain in "Wolverine 3" has not been disclosed but several news outlets believe that Richard E. Grant will be on board to play as Mister Sinister. Also on board for "Logan" is Patrick Stewart, who will play the iconic Professor X. Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, and Elizabeth Rodriguez are also part of the movie.
Meanwhile, rumors about X-23, the female clone of Wolverine, making her appearance in "Logan" have been around for months as well. Interestingly, the movie poster showed Wolverine's clawed hand held by another hand - one that is presumed to belong to a little girl. It is speculated by SlashFilm that the hand actually belongs to X-23, suggesting she'll have an important role in the movie. More details of the "Wolverine 3" movie are expected to be dropped in the coming months so fans should stay tuned.
