Legend of Grimrock II is in the works, developer Almost Human announced today on the Grimrock blog.
The announcement comes after Almost Human said told fans they were working on a "Grimlock-related project," triggering rumors regarding possible DLC. As it turns out, that's exactly what they were planning to do, until they decided that "creating a mere DLC or expansion to Grimrock simply would not have felt right."
"Simply put, a DLC would have limited too much what we can do. With a full blown sequel we can raise Grimrock to the next level."
Though the post painted their plans in extremely broad strokes, Humanwill feature lots of new content and a "big engine update."
First released last April, Legend of Grimrock recreated the distinctive gameplay of 90s-era PC real-time RPGs like Eye of the Beholder. Though the game recieved middling reviews, it shouldn't be surprising to find that the game accrued a cult following from fans of the era.
Almost Human will release more information on Legend of Grimrock II "as the work progresses."
