This week, we saw the return of "The Flash" season 3, placing fans squarely into the "Flashpoint" storyline that unfolded when Barry Allen A.K.A The Flash decided to go back in time to prevent his mother's death. Of course, we all know that altering events in time will lead to several consequences, and one of those was that Barry grew up with both his parents at home--like a perfectly normal family.
What Barry did not expect was for he and Iris to be practically strangers, compared to their normal timeline of being almost lovers. In a recent interview with Mashable, Candice Patton described Iris and Barry's relationship in the "Flashpoint" storyline of "The Flash" season 3, echoing what most fans believe: that no matter what, Barry and Iris are destined to be together.
"Something we've been playing with over the seasons, no matter where we go, whatever timeline or or whatever Earth, Iris is this fixed point for Barry," Patton admitted. Of course, the two have a "meet-cute" in "The Flash" season 3, which begins their relationship.
Speaking of Iris, it seems that in "The Flash" season 3 "Flashpoint" storyline, she and her father are not in good terms, contrary to the real storyline of the show in which they co-exist rather harmoniously as father and daughter. It seems that Barry's actions affect more than just his life, but other's lives as well.
Speaking of other characters, Tom Cavanagh recently spoke with Variety on the many versions of his character that he had to play in "The Flash" season 3. The actor remained tight lipped on what's to come this season for his character, but remains proud of the many versions of Dr. Wells and Eobard Thawne that he gets to play on the show.
Cavanagh admitted that it is a "privilege" for him to play such characters, and that he would always go back to Eobard Thawne and the Reverse-Flash as the root of all the characters he plays on "The Flash" season 3. In next week's episode, we are to see Cisco getting tangled in some sort of mess, and the introduction of Caitlin Snow as Killer Frost and Tobin Bell as Doctor Alchemy.
"The Flash" season 3 episode 2 arrives on Tuesday, October 11 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
