Microsoft continues to keep mum about the existence of a new Surface Pro model, but reports suggest that Microsoft Surface Pro 5's release is happening soon. There are even rumors stating that the next hybrid device will share the spotlight with another device from the Redmond-based tech firm. The upcoming Surface Pro 5 will reportedly pack impressive specs that will make the device stand out from its competitors.
According to IBTimes, Microsoft is set to launch the refreshed Surface Pro 5 this month alongside the company's all-in-one (AIO) PC. If this proves to be true, Microsoft should drop an announcement in the days to come. On the other hand, other news outlets suggested that a 2016 launch won't be likely and fans can expect the hybrid laptop to be unveiled sometime next year. There could be several reasons as to why a 2017 release is more likely for the new iteration of Microsoft Surface Pro 5.
As reported by iDigitalTimes, Microsoft Surface Pro 5 won't be available until the operating system update, Windows 10 Redstone 2 does. The hardware's rollout was pushed back to early 2017 and since it is expected to be the hardware used in the next Surface Pro iteration, the device's delay would only make sense. In addition, the laptop is also assumed to carry an Intel Kaby Lake processor; however, manufacturing companies have just started to procure the chips. Full distribution of the chipsets won't start until next year, according to the same report.
Nevertheless, rumors about the Microsoft Surface Pro 5's specs and features continue to make the rounds. The machine is likely to have a USB-Type C connection, which should help with faster data transfer and quick charging. It is also rumored to have a 16 GB RAM, a 16-megapixel main camera at the back and an 8-megapixel selfie snapper. Nothing has been set in stone yet so readers should watch out for more updates on the device.
