Nexus 6 Release Date, News & Update: Changes Nexus 6 Will Receive From Android 7.0 Nougat Revealed; Pixel Phone To Receive Latest Android OS Too!

Nexus 6 may be expected to receive the Android 7.0 Nougat, which had already rolled out in other Nexus devices. The OTA update is also available for manual downloading. The Google-made Pixel phones are also slated to get the latest OS out of the box.

The Android 7.0 Nougat features a revamped UI and improved notifications with the latest OS as well as enhanced power saving and a quicker access to important files with Instant Apps, Quick Switch and Multi-Window. Nexus 6 owners may also expect the Google Allo, a new messaging app with reinvented texting features. Additionally, the build number NBD90Z update weighs a hefty 860 MB and will require a well-charged battery and a stable WiFi connection for downloading and installation.

The 2-year-old Nexus 6 is said to see the latest Android OS in the coming weeks, Tech Times reported. However, the OTA update can already be downloaded and installed here. Users who are wary about manual installation may opt to wait for the update, keeping an eye out for notifications as rollouts happen on a constant basis.

Moreover, Google allows users to get the factory images for all Nexus devices. However, the giant tech company is yet to make an announcement regarding the latest OS reaching Nexus 9 LTE. The company also remains silent about the reason for the delay of the Android 7.0 Nougat to Nexus 6 but company insiders reportedly hinted a battery problem.

In other news, the highly anticipated Google Pixel phones are slated to roll out with the latest Android OS as well. Pixel phones are said to be the only handsets that will have Google Assistant built in. Google is expected to take full control of the hardware and software of the Pixel phones, Wired reported.

Nexus 6 was said to be a trial run for the Pixel phones. However, unlike the Google-made Pixel phones the Nexus handset had other carrier partners and was made by Motorola. The Nexus 6 was then released after Google's brief Motorola ownership. Moreover, while the Pixel phones are expected to roll out with the Android 7.0 Nougat built-in, the Nexus 6 is yet to receive the update. Watch How to Install Android 7.0 Nougat on Any Nexus Device using OTA!
