'Hello Neighbor' Latest News & Update: Finally, A Game That Lets You Simulate Creepy Breaking and Entering [VIDEO]

If you ever live in an area—whether it's urban or suburban—that seems relatively peaceful, but you've got nightmarish fantasies of getting broken into and robbed, it's probably not a good idea for you to play "Hello Neighbor." It's a new indie game that puts you in the shoes of a pesky citizen in suburbia, nosing around in your neighbor's house while they're not home. Or so you think.

"Hello Neighbor" is kind of like a "Five Nights At Freddy's," only in a peaceful suburban setting, and seemingly not as much supernatural horror elements. If you've seen the movie "Don't Breathe," it's kind of like that. Your objective is to snoop around your mysterious next-door neighbor's basement, trying to figure out all the strange secrets he might be hiding all because he's got it all nailed shut. If this sounds like terrible decisions from the protagonist, it's because it is.

From the information posted on the official "Hello Neighbor" website, the game is a quick first-person experience. The player has to manipulate different things in the neighbor's house, such as lightbulbs and electronics, he's set up traps to try and catch you—once you set one off, you have to escape unseen, or else... it's totally bad news for you.

And thanks to "Hello Neighbor"'s advanced A.I., the neighbor will quickly learn about how you play the game the more you play it. You can keep playing over and over when you get caught, as it seems to be a rogue adventure experience, but eventually the A.I. will begin to anticipate all your break-in strategies, forcing you to switch up your approach. Fortunately, the neighbor's house seems to be 100% interactive, allowing you to utilize different things in order to try and see what's down in the basement.

"Hello Neighbor" is coming out for PC for now, as listed on its Steam page. It's due to come out summer next year, but the gameplay trailer already looks pretty sweet.
