‘The Sims 5’ Release Date, Latest News & Update: Fifth Installment Better Than City Living DLC?

“The Sims 4” will be getting a new DLC this November in “City Living”, a paid add-on that only a select few may be willing to pay for. Speaking of shelling out cash, would it not be wiser to save that for a totally new installment such as “The Sims 5”?

As most know by now, EA follows a traditional five-year cycle before releasing a new installment. With “The Sims 4” release in 2014, the best bet for “The Sims 5” to come out is 2019. That is still pretty far off though some are hoping EA and Maxis decide to release something earlier.

All the reason to release early

As most know, “The Sims 4” didn’t exactly pan out as a great game in terms of sales. It returned poor numbers and many feel that this setback could affect “The Sims 5” as well, according to the Sims forums.

There are however two ways to look at it. One is that EA may want to do away with the disappointing sales numbers and come up with an entirely new game to raise its fortunes. If not, they could delay “The Sims 5” of maybe even axe any plans due to the big hit caused by “The Sims 4”.

Full game over DLC better?

With “The Sims 4: City Living” coming out in November, the intent is to, of course, provide content. The only thing is that people will need to pay for it. Rather than pay for an add-on for a game that has performed miserably, EA may have done better to save that and work on “The Sims 5”.

Some are hoping to see one before 2016 ends but EA is apparently not ready to release “The Sims 5”. That said, the latest is 2019 with some flickering hope of seeing one earlier than that.

Right now, it is touch-and-go for EA and the gamers who are left with no option but to stick to “The Sims 4”. Only a PC version is out another issue that is tied up to the whole poor sales performance mess.
