Focus is now on the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016, something that happens late this October. It may very well be the last big product that Apple will release for the year, not to mention a long overdue refresh.
The MacBook Pro 2016 will be followed by the MacBook Air 2016 which is slated for a March 2017 release, Mac Rumors reported. But after that, some are wondering when the next MacBook refresh would be. Better yet, some are begging to ask if there will be one.
Can the iPad Pro take over?
The fate of the MacBook Pro is a point of contention tied up to the possible flexibility of the iPad Pro. There were rumors suggesting that Apple would follow the lead of Microsoft with its Surface Pro line and adapt something similar.
Apple has marketed the iPad Pro as a laptop replacement and apparently it is not only targeting the modern notebooks out in the market. Somehow, it will also affect the MacBook Pro at some point though there are plenty of differences between it and the plus-sized tablet, Forbes reported.
The most notable difference between a MacBook Pro and an iPad Pro is, of course, the operating system. The former runs on a macOS while the latter runs on iOS. As far as apps/ programs are concerned, there is a big difference which is tied up to productivity.
The age of hybrid isn’t quite there yet
Arming a tablet with a keyboard (or Bluetooth) doesn’t account for a mobile device that is easy to handle. The MacBook Pro is still a mobile computing phenom that even the iPad Pro cannot overwhelm.
While all this is fast-forwarding a bit to the future, there is no question that Apple would be wise to stick to the program and refresh the MacBook Pro. All that starts this month and perhaps the Cupertino company is doing the next best thing – making the MacBook Pro 2016 thinner.
