"Interesting" Wii U News Coming Tomorrow

IGN's Richard George seems pretty satisfied with himself. Evidently, the site's Executive editor knows something about the Wii U that you don't. Or anyone else for that matter.

The editor tweeted, "Some very interesting Wii U-related news coming tomorrow. Stay tuned. All I'm saying," late this afternoon, and he's kept true to his word, despite inquisitive followers.

The Wii U has been having a bit of a tough go of it lately. Actually, hell with lately, the company's been having a rough time with it ever since it's debut. After a rough holiday season, Eurogamer reported that the the company's previous goal of 5.5 million Wii U consoles sold by last year's end was been reduced to 4 million units. Similarly, Nintendo also previously predicted it would sell 24 million Wii U games by year's end, but that number has now been reduced to 16 million.

As of the end of last month, the console has only managed to sell a shade over 3 million units total, and was within inches of shipping 12 million games, and don't expect either number to rise dramatically anytime soon, as Nintendo is holding firm to the console's current price, which is already below the system's manufacturing cost.

This, coupled with developers continuing to pass on the system, are the two big ingredients for the massive loss Nintendo is expected to face.

Hopefully IGN's news will be something to spurn a bit more interest in the waning console, but we'll all have to wait until tomorrow to see if it's indeed "interesting," or just a waste of time.

What kind of announcement are you hoping for?
