However, fans of Maggie Smith debunked those reports saying that if Maggie wanted to stop working, the series can simply kill her character and continue.
Aside from a possible "Dowtnon Abbey" spinoff, there are also reports saying that a "Downton Abbey" movie adaptation is in the works. "Downton Abbey" actor, Brendan Coyle, reportedly confirmed his participation in the said movie. As of writing, the only reports pointing to a "Downton Abbey" movie says that production will begin in 2017.
