Dead Space 3 is one of the most anticipated video games of 2013. However, the question on many gamers mind is this, does the game live up to all the hype that has surrounded the title since its announcement? Let's find out.
The first Dead Space 3 review came from AusGamers, and from what we took from it all, it appears the game is not so big on horror. While horror aspects are still there, Visceral Games seems to have chosen to go the action game route for the third Dead Space outing. That's not a bad thing when you consider that there is only so much developers can do to keep the scare factor fresh in games like these. It is no wonder the Silent Hill games are no longer worth playing.
Snippet from AusGamers Dead Space 3 review:
"Dead Space 3 combines the previously well-tested environments with an all-new large planetside portion. This first aspect works well on a few levels. Fans of those "old" environments get to revisit the experiences they loved from the previous releases, while being eased into the new terrain, environments and subsequent situations. Newcomers to the series get a glimpse of the past and something of a tutorial. What stands out here is that the epic tale on offer, regardles of your feelings for any of the above, calls for it."
One thing the reviewer didn't seem to like much was the high amount of ammo and other resources that were always available to the player. This takes away the sense of desperation and the need to conserve resources. Without these elements, Dead Space 3 feels more of an action game rather than a game aimed at keeping players on their toes.
Overall, AusGamers enjoyed Dead Space 3 and ended up giving it a 9.0 out of 10. So if you're not too concerned with that 11 pieces of DLC on Day One, you might just find quite a lot of fun playing Dead Space 3 yet.
