Sales Of The Xbox 360 Surpasses 75.9 Million

Microsoft is reveling in the good times, as the company managed to sell 75.9 million Xbox 360 consoles across the world. This is up from 70 million units sold in October of 2012.

When it comes down to the number of players who have jumped on the Xbox Live bandwagon, Microsoft says those players with an Xbox Live subscription stands at over 40 million, which isn't different from the figures Microsoft mentioned a few months ago.

If you're in the mood for comparisons, you'd might like to know Sony shipped 77 million PS3 units. However, it is not yet known how many of that 77 million are considered as sold. With the lack of any information from Sony, we have to conclude that the Xbox 360 is ahead of PS3, in second place, and trailing behind the Nintendo Wii.

Who would have thought that in 2013, the Xbox 360 would gain so much success in the gaming industry?

This is great news for a company that entered the console gaming industry as the underdog. Microsoft has worked very hard to hit this high milestone, and with the Xbox 720 touted for a 2013 release, the company would be looking to mimic its success. Doing so won't be easy, however, as Sony is also preparing its own console for launch in 2013. This means the 1 year head start Microsoft had with the 360 will not come into play here, and so the battle for control over the living room entertainment will be more fierce.

Which next generation console will you be picking up later in the year? Let's hear in the comments.
