'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2' Theory: Is James Gunn's Big Easter Egg From 'GotG' Connected To Kurt Russell's Ego?

It's a mystery that has eluded fans for more than two years. According to "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn, the film still has one big Easter egg that no one has uncovered. But is it possible that this not-so-little secret is actually a reference to a new character that will be introduced in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2"? Was there a hint to Kurt Russell's appearance as Ego in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film?

James Gunn Speaks Up About That "Big" MCU Easter Egg In 'Guardians Of The Galaxy'

James Gunn has already stated that he will finally reveal the big Easter egg from the first "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie. However, The director of "GotG Vol. 2" also said that he will wait until after the sequel's premiere before he actually confirms it to the world (via ComicBook). But is it possible that the reference actually has to do with Ego the Living Planet's future appearance? Did Gunn tease about Kurt Russell's character in the MCU flick?

Did 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' Tease Ego's Appearance In 'GotG Vol. 2'?

This may be a far shot, but it is possible that "Guardians of the Galaxy" offered a glimpse of what Ego would look like with Knowhere. The mining planet, which used to be the head of an ancient celestial being, certainly was some sort of living planet. Perhaps James Gunn had meant for Knowhere to be a teaser to what Kurt Russell's character was supposed to look like before he took on a human form. Maybe "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" might even reveal that Ego was Knowhere before he decided to take a human avatar.

It's a shot in the dark, but still a shot at James Gunn's big Easter egg in "Guardians of the Galaxy". Do you think you can find it before "GotG Vol. 2" is released on May 5, 2017? Let us know in the comments.
