Whether you live here in the States, or across the great blue sea, you're all set to get some sort of special edition for the post-apocalyptic PS3 exclusive, The Last of Us.
For North American folk, gamers have two options.
1. The Survival Edition, which at $79.99, offers a hardcover art book, and the Darkhorse comic " The Last of Us: American Dreams #1," with an alternate cover only available to those who purchase the Survival Edition. It also comes in a Steelbook case, and the pre-order bonus Sights & Sounds DLC pack (seen above)
2. The GameStop exclusive Post-Pandemic Edition, for $159.99 is the whopper of the two. Like the Survival Edition, it has the same comic, DLC pack, and Steelbook case. For the extra $80, this edition offers a 12" Premium Statue of Joel and Ellie, and the Survival DLC pack (seen below).
The Survival DLC Pack offers bonus XP, melee booster, in-game currency, character items, and bonus skins for Ellie and Joel once players beat the game. The Sights and Sounds DLC Pack includes the Official Game Soundtrack by Academy Award winning musician Gustavo Santaolalla, a PS3 Dynamic Theme, and PSN Avatars.
As for European gamers, they too have two choices for their special editions, either the Ellie or Joel Editions. If you're an Ellie fan, you can grab her edition at GAME. Joel fans can grab his edition at Tesco.
Each comes with the following:
- Mini Artbook: Explore the world of The Last of Us through some of the remarkable artwork that gave shape to the game
- American Dreams Issue #1: The first in a series of comics created in partnership with Dark Horse to delve into the backstory of Ellie. The version included features a variant cover found only in these special editions
- Exclusive Game Pack: The Ellie Edition showcases the character Ellie on the game pack artwork, while the Joel Edition will feature Joel's face
- Collectible Poster: An exclusive screen print effect poster of each character can be found in their respective editions
- DualShock 3 Skin: Skin your PS3 controllers with Joel or Ellie, depending on which edition you decide to order
- Survival DLC Pack
- Sights & Sounds DLC Pack
- Joel or Ellie skins for LittleBigPlanet, depending on your choice of special edition
Anyone who pre-orders the standard version of game will receive the Sights & Sounds DLC Pack.
The Last of Us is out May 7, exclusively on PlayStation 3.
