"Sons of Anarchy" is FX's highest rated series, surpassing well-established shows like crime drama "The Shield," comedy drama "Rescue Me" and even the aesthetics enhancements-themed "Nip/Tuck." So what's a network to do when its highest successful series ran out of episodes to air? Well, that's a simple problem, ran a "Sons of Anarchy" prequel of course.
And it looks like nothing is stopping the "Sons of Anarchy" prequel from happening. However, initial details seem to suggest that the upcoming prequel series would significantly differ from the original show.
Charlie Hunnam Will Not Be In The "Sons of Anarchy" Prequel Cast?
Sadly, one of the biggest difference would probably be in the faces of the actors that would be tapped to join the "Sons of Anarchy" Prequel cast. Reports say that it is highly likely that the main actor in the original series Charlie Hunnam will not be seen in the upcoming prequel.
The possibility is revealed by the "Sons of Anarchy" actor himself. According to Charlie Hunnam, he thinks that the prequel will definitely happen but clarifies that "I don't think I'm a part of it," as reported by Comic Book.
The reason is actually very simple. Since the events of the "Sons of Anarchy" prequel happened way before the original series' storyline, Hunnam's character Jackson "Jax" Teller was not yet born at that time.
If fans of the original "Sons of Anarchy" would notice Charlie Hunnam's absence it is most likely for this reason. Previously, there were speculations that the actor could be in bad terms with creator Kurt Sutter which could be the cause of Hunnam's absence in the upcoming series, speculations that proved to be inaccurate. Instead, the upcoming "Sons of Anarchy" prequel will focus on John Teller's story, the father of Charlie Hunnam's character Jax.
'Sons of Anarchy' Prequel Will Be Latino Focused
It was also revealed that the upcoming "Sons of Anarchy" prequel will be co-created by Kurt Sutter and Elgin James. In fact, Elgin James contribution to the prequel will be unique, as Sutter believes that the writing part regarding Latino culture and traditions should be handled by someone as competent as James.
The "Sons of Anarchy" prequel is reported to focus on the Mayans Motorcycle Club which was previously featured as the antagonist in the original series. The cast is also reported to be likely new and will be mostly composed of Latin American actors.
