"Rocket League" has a new water-themed update coming. Psyonix recently featured a "Rocket League" trailer, showing a brand new aquatic arena, called the Aquadome. The new environment will be added to "Rocket League" for free in October 2016.
"Rocket League" launched in July 2015 and the game has continued to draw both new and old players because of its free and paid updates. The new video had similarities to "BioShock" and showcased a new place for the soccer and cars game. It is completely underwater and full of various sea entities like fish, sharks and jellyfish outside the glass walls. The layout is generally the same as other "Rocket League" arenas but Aquadome stands out to be one of the most aesthetic.
GameRant stated that aside from the aquatic arena, "Rocket League" fans can also expect two new vehicles. The first car, called Triton, is a blue suave-looking vehicle that looks like a submarine. The second car is Proteus, which is reminiscent of an orange marine biology research vehicle. Each car will cost $1.99. Aquadome will be part of every playlist in "Rocket League," including the Competitive playlist. The video featured the two vehicles battling for the ball in the new dynamic playground.
Psyonix stated that the Battle Cars in "Rocket League" will compete 20,001 leagues beneath the sea in the free Aquadome update. The new theme was inspired by the seven seas, sea creatures and machines used to study both. Aquadome is the first standard Arena released since Utopia Coliseum. According to Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham, "Rocket League" will continue to expand throughout 2016, which could mean that there will be more updates before the year ends.
Express wrote that "Rocket League" has the technology support for cross-platform gaming between PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, Sony has yet to approve the compatibility. In the meantime, Psyonix aim to draw more players by introducing more maps and modes. The basketball mode was previously added with good reviews from critics. "Rocket League" is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. More updates and details are expected soon.
