Capcom Responds to Rumors of Monster Hunter 4's Vita Release

Given the success of the franchise, Sony would surely love to get their hands on the next addition to the franchise, Monster Hunter 4, to help the lackluster sales for their own handheld, the Vita.

Recent delays for the title prompted rumors that the game was being developed for release on an additional platform, Sony's Vita. Two days ago, IGN reported an unnamed Japanese source as saying "The reason for the delay of the 3DS game Monster Hunter 4 isn't to spend more time to improve the game's quality: it appears that they're considering a simultaneous release on PS Vita. Now, Sony is added to the mix in addition to Nintendo to discussing this point with Capcom."

Squashing Sony's dreams and rumors, Capcom's Senior Vice President Christian Svenson stepped up to address the idea of the game's release, saying only, "I would not believe everything you read on the internet. It will set you up for disappointment or misdirected frustration."

While not a direct confirmation, or denial, it does seem to lead toward the latter. Capcom hasn't made any official announcements, but we'll let you know if anything changes.

The game has a stronger emphasis on platforming than before, as walls can now be climbed more fluidly and in any direction, and for the first time Hunters can grab onto monsters and attack them. Environments shown also appear to be larger than before. More effort is being put on the adventure and storyline. Various monsters have been confirmed to return, most notably Rathalos, Rathian, Tigrex, and Yian Kut-Ku.

At this time, Monster Hunter 4 is set to be released this summer for 3DS.
