Mariska Hargitay has become a household name when she landed the role of Lt. Olivia Benson in "Law & Order: SVU" Season 18. The show is obviously a hit as it is already in its 18th year on air. But while the hype for "Law & Order: SVU" Season 18 is still very strong, is the lengthy run of the popular show already too much for Mariska Hargitay?
TV Guide reports that Mariska Hargitay (Lt. Olivia Benson) revealed that she is still very much committed to her "Law & Order: SVU" Season 18 character. For as long as the show is still feeding her creativity as an actress, Mariska Hargitay is definitely in it for the long haul. "I'm still here because it's still challenging and interesting to me, I feel like we keep going deeper and mining out these new places," Mariska Hagitay told reporters on set. "After 12 years [of doing SVU], I thought, 'What are we going to do after 12 years?' It was such an education for me because I had no idea."
"Law & Order: SVU" Season 18 Mariska Hargitay seemingly revealed that she sort of lost her interest when co-star Chris Meloni (Elliot Stabler) left the show. But when former showrunner Warren Leight joined the team in "Law & Order: SVU" Season 13, Mariska Hargitay credits him for bringing her passion back on the hit show. Mariska Hargitay's character had a special bond with Chris Meloni's character in "Law & Order: SVU," so it was understandable that the actress felt like she lost a big part of her when Chris Meloni left.
There has been whispers and speculations that Chris Meloni may actually return to "Law & Order: SVU." His character's comeback will definitely stir things up between Lt. Olivia Benson and Captain Ed Tucker's blossoming relationship. While Elliot Stabler's return is still uncertain, the hype of the "Law & Order: SVU" love triangle dilemma will definitely make the showrunner re-think of finally bringing him back. "Law & Order: SVU" Season 18 has premiered on NBC on September 21.
